At Due East Construction & Roofing, we’re a family-owned company serving homeowners in two places we care deeply about – Western North Carolina and all of Florida. What began as a small roofing and construction business back in 2001 has grown into a two-generation team dedicated to quality craftsmanship, honest communication, and work that truly stands the test of time.
Our Florida division, based in Naples, specializes in roofing installations, replacements, repairs, and related construction services. In North Carolina, we are based in Lake Lure and our focus expands into custom log cabin builds through our partnership with Blue Ridge Log Cabins, as well as major renovations and custom home projects throughout the mountains.
Whether we’re building a log home on a hillside or replacing a storm-damaged roof under the Florida sun, our approach is the same: straightforward guidance, reliable workmanship, and the peace of mind you should expect from a family business. How We Got Started
Due East Construction & Roofing began with our founder, Hollis Shaw, a general contractor from New Hampshire who eventually made his way to Florida. Working side by side with his son Peter, they built custom homes, handled major renovations, and took on projects that stretched from everyday improvements to severe storm repairs and roof replacements. Living and working in Florida meant facing hurricanes, hail, heavy winds, and everything nature could throw at a roof – and it became clear that homeowners needed reliable help they could trust.
As the company grew, Peter’s son, Charles Patrick, joined the business and brought his own experience in storm restoration and roofing. Over the past decade, he has focused almost entirely on roof replacements and storm-damage recovery for homes and commercial properties throughout Florida. His hands-on experience has shaped the Florida division into what it is today: a dependable roofing team ready to respond when homeowners need it most.
Today, Due East is still a true family business – three generations strong – and now serves two regions we’re proud to call home. Peter has expanded to Lake Lure, North Carolina, where he focuses on custom log cabin construction, major renovations, and custom building for Western North Carolina. Meanwhile, Charles Patrick continues to lead the Florida division, specializing in roofing and storm-related repairs in Naples and all of Florida.
